No I stayed with a relative in thane who dropped me to vfs in Mumbai. I did not want to trouble them, but my backup plan was to check into a hotel the earlier night. A search on google "us consulate mumbai hotel" does reveal the hotels in Mumbai. It does appear that there is no hotel in the area, most are 4-5 kms away so u do have to take a taxi too.

The Swiss do not break down the source of the Indian money and it could all be EU accounts of Indian companies that have operations in Europe. We just do not know. As Switzerland has the lowest tax in Europe, a lot of companies with operations in Europe have accounts there.
If India had sensible policies it could generate Trillions of $s and this 1.4T would not matter.
I am trying to start a Pvt Ltd in India and it takes about 40 days and $3000 to get started. In MA, it takes a few hours and less money despite the much higher lawyer fees here. No wonder the country is poor. It is not the corrupt people but the honest (but incompetent) people who do more damage by slowing the pace of business.
The path to hell is paved with good intentions.

Hi Gurus,
I have efiled for my wife's EAD/AP renewal. When I finally submitted, the total payment asked was only $645( 340 for EAD and 305 for AP). But, there is a note stating the following:
"The biometric fee is $80 for applicants ages 14 through 79 who request a Refugee Travel Document or Re-Entry Permit, unless the applicant resides outside the United States at the time of filing their form."
How am I supposed to send this? I was not asked to pay this amount during my efiling of the AP/EAD concurrent filing.
How am I supposed to send this? Can I send it as a separate check for $80 only for the biometric fee( because I had already paid for the EAD/AP using my credit card)
Please advise.
Also, during the AP filing, I got this:
"On a separate piece of paper, please explain how you would qualify for an Advance Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of Advance Parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered. (See instructions.) "
What an I supposed write in the document that I am going to send to USCIS?
Please advise.

If it was EB2, you have better chance of winning lotto than get EB2 approved with 3 year degree. I had 3yrs + PG Diploma + 6 Years of Indian Experience + 13 Years of US experience and I was never able to cross the labor certification hurdle. BTW, I tried 2 times.
There is a little chance if you had 3+2 years degree and the labor was looking for Bachelor�s and would accept equalent foreign degree as evaluated by reputed firm. I believe your diploma was the hurdle.

Now you might meet 1 person in say 100000 who falls into the catagory you mentioned and none of us entertain such people with any respect.

Friends I think a great injustice is being done to NSC filers , their applications are taking months for ead and ap, while TSC filers are getting ead adn AP as soon as they get receipt, do you think this will improve for NSC in future, at this time looks like august NSC filers will haveto wait till the end of the year for EAD,ap, which is sad.

Someone posted a link describing I-485 Standard Operating Procedures. It is very detailed and interesting to read. It even described color of paperclip to use, place it on left or right corner, how to fold papers, how to form group family cases, how to shelve and label them, etc. It also has a very detailed description on where to click on screen while working on cases. Contents of this doc suggest that cases are first reviewed following some work distribution method, original mailroom RD is used wherever receive date is to be entered (automatically generated RD might be different though). PD is not part of initial data entry. Cases are placed in order of PD ONLY after they have been pre-adjudicated (shelved as 'waiting for visa number availablity'). etc. etc.
There is also a expedite procedure for cases with children between 20 and 21 years, where files are hand transferred from desk to desk.

its not that simple. were you here in 2000-2002 also? When the whole company is running into major losses complete department and locations get wiped out. Does not matter how critical a resource you are. If the people at the top decide to scrap the product, the team goes with it. Thats how companies like Nortel, Lucent etc manage to go from employment figures of 100K to 30K in a couple of years...

Pankaj did a great job by Singing it . From Strategic point of view-I feel Singing American National Anthem when you are not even a Permanent Resident not to talk about Citizenship was a over reaction just to show Americans, how assimilated we are . Every other activity in the rally looked great except the national Anthem singing. Generally whenever you sing someone else's National Anthem, protocol is that it is either preceded or followed by your own. We still owe allegiance to the country whose passports we hold. Just my 2 cents....

I am also trying to stay afloat through the very debatable AC21 process. Currently, my case is being handled by Ron Gotcher and I have been very happy with all the help and support so far. Not to mention, they are really reasonable.
Thanks for sharing. I don't think AC21 is very debatable as I have seen ppl used AC21 and currently holding GC without any unwanted issues.
