MOM reviewing call for weekly rest day for maids

SINGAPORE: The Manpower Ministry (MOM) said it is currently reviewing the call for the government to implement a weekly rest day for domestic maids with compensation in-lieu. In an email reply to Channel NewsAsia, MOM said it will consult with various stakeholders including employers, employment agencies and non-governmental organisations.

Members of the public can email their views and suggestions to mom_fmmd@mom.gov.sg.

MOM said it recognises the benefits of rest days to the well-being and productivity of foreign domestic maids.

However, instead of mandating rest days, it said the government has adopted a more flexible approach of allowing households to work out a mutually agreement employment arrangement with their maids, and encouraging employers to grant their workers regular rest days.

Accredited employment agencies use a standard employment contract for maids, which requires employers to stipulate the number of rest days per month. Should the maids agree to work during their rest day, employers are required to pay them an agreed amount of compensation. Read More

Pradhana Vizha 2011 - Vasantham Central - Awards Season Cometh at Vasantham

Vettai and Vyjayanthi to duke it out with nine nominations each at Pradhana Vizha 2011. This year's Pradhana Vizha, the 12th annual event for recognising the finest talents in the Indian television industry, will see a number of significant changes that will make for an even more exciting event. While 15 awards were given out last year, this year will see a record number of 26 accolades awarded. After a four-year hiatus, awards in the Technical category, such as Best Opening Title and Best Videography, will stage a return.

Also, there will be not one but two Most Popular Artiste awards given out, for Vasantham's Most Popular Male and Female personalities: Viewers have nominated 20 artistes for this category. Going head-to-head will be the year's two most popular productions: Cop drama Vettai and period drama Vyjayanthi each received nine nominations, including Best Drama and Best Editing. Both have broken new ground in Vasantham's history, with Vettai being the first police-themed show, and Vyjayanthi the first show to be set in a period of local history.

For actor and musician Shabir (picture), there's much to be hopeful about this year: His name enjoys prominence in three categories. Aimi Eguchi joins other virtual, fictional Japanese pop idols (Japanese Band AKB 48)

In the latest move of Japanese pop toward virtual or fictional stars, the newest addition to a Japanese girl group with millions of superfans turns out not to be real. Aimi Eguchi starred in a candy commercial soon after joining the group AKB48, showing off perfectly coiffed hair, proportional features, and touting the candy in a sickly sweet voice.

AKB48’s fans were immediately suspicious. Every year, fans vote which of the group’s members are the most popular, and usually only the most popular girls star in the commercials. According to Eguchi’s bio, which detailed her age, hometown, and hobbies, she was just a lowly “research student.” Was it possible Eguchi didn’t even exist?

Soon after the candy company Ezaki Glico aired the commercial, it admitted that Aimi Eguchi was just a computer-generated mash-up of the best characteristics of several other members of the band. AKB48’s management company initially tried to defend Eguchi’s humanness, saying, “She’s real! She didn’t take the 12th generation auditions, so we had to quickly accept her (into generation 12.5)”

But a video on Singularity Hub that showed the making of Aimi Eguchi proved once and for all she was CG. Watch:

Eguchi is another example of J-pop’s trend toward virtual or fictional pop stars. The wildly popular hologram pop star, Hatsune Miku, plays sold-out concerts across the country to screaming fans waving glowsticks. The fictional all female band Ho-kago Tea Time — featured in the anime series “K-On!” — released an album in 2009, which debuted at No. 1 on the weekly charts.

Aimi Eguchi is the first virtual member of AKB48, which is a theater-based group that has its own theater in the Akihabara district in Tokyo. The letters AKB in the group’s name are derived from the district name. The Making of Japanese virtual popstar Eguchi Aimi Japanese Band AKB 48

Eguchi Aimi is a computer generated popstar created using the body and facial features of six members from Japanese band AKB 48. Eguchi Aimi has been created using the hair and body of AKB48 band member Yuko Oshima, while her facial shape is taken from Takahashi Minami.

She has Maeda Atsuko's eyes, Watanabe Mayu's eyebrows, Itano Tomomi's nose and Shinoda Mariko's mouth.

The band's management went to great lengths to convince the Japanese public that Eguchi was a real person, creating a profile on the group's website that describes her as a 16-year-old from Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, whose hobbies were track and field sports.

There were clues as to her real identity, however, that fans quickly caught on to.

Eguchi blogged that her goal is "to become a new idol like never before by taking the best parts of my AKB big sisters," while her birthday - February 11 - is also the date of the founding in 1922 of confectioner Ezaki Glico. Read More

『ハガネの女』原作者が制作内容に反対の意思表明、アスペ児童の話で炎上
ドラマ『ハガネの女　シーズン2』（テレビ朝日系）の原作者で漫画家の深谷かほるが、ドラマの内容が自分の意思と反するものだとし、原作者を降り、ビデオグラム化を反対することを表明しました。

問題となったのは『ハガネの女　シーズン2』の第二話。
転入してきたアスペルガー症候群の小学生が数々の問題行動を起こし、クラスで多数決とって学校に残るかどうか決めて欲しいと言われ実施。三ヵ月後、アスペルガー症候群の小学生は打ち解けはじめ、クラスに残るといった内容でした。

放送後、『ハガネの女』の公式HPには「アスペルガー症候群を理解していない」と非難の声が多くよせられ、今回、原作者を降りると発表した深谷かほるの公式HPには、応援のメッセージが多数よせられています。

私、深谷かほるは　ドラマ『ハガネの女　シーズン2』の内容に対しての意思表明として、
1.原作者を降り、クレジットを削除していただきました。
2.DVDを含むビデオグラム化、モバイル配信、インターネット配信についても反対しております。

これは主に第2話の、教師としょうがい児童と保護者の描写に同意しないからです。結果については私の予測の及ぶところではありませんが、ここでとりあえず私個人の考えを表明して、ドラマをご覧になった方、漫画をご存知の方に対しての挨拶とさせていただきます。深谷かほる

怒り新党 UNDP anger 日本

人気深夜番組「マツコ＆有吉の怒り新党」が早くも1時間スペシャルに！

テレビ朝日系で4月にスタートした深夜番組「マツコ＆有吉の怒り新党」の1時間スペシャルが、早くも6月24日（金）に放送される。

「マツコ＆有吉の怒り新党」は、マツコ・デラックスと有吉弘行が、視聴者から寄せられた「ちょっと腹が立つけれど、これって怒っていいのだろうか？」という“お怒りテーマ”について議論を繰り広げ、最終的にその“怒り”を仕分けるトーク番組。今回の1時間スペシャルでは、ゲストのかたせ梨乃、永井大、杉村太蔵の3人と有吉が、日々の怒りを書き留めた“イラッとメモ”を持参。そのメモの内容についてトークを展開する。

まず、有吉は「8時25分という中途半端な集合時間を指定しておいて、スタッフが遅刻してくる」という“イラッとメモ”を披露。「だったら8時30分というきりのいい時間に指定すればいいのに」と怒りをぶちまけると、永井も同意する。だが、永井が「ペルーに行っていた時のコーディネーターさん（2つ年下の男性）に連絡先を聞いたので、帰国してからお礼の電話をしたのですが、電話番号は使われていません…。メールも聞いていたのでメールするも送信できません…。イラッとしちゃいました」と発表すると、有吉が即座に“2つ年下”というフレーズに対し、「年下を強調するところに小物感が…」とダメ出し。体育会系の永井は、“先輩・後輩”にこだわりを見せるが、有吉はさらに永井を追い詰めていく。

また、かたせは「ホテルのフロント係の方に『出しておいてください』と頼み、絵はがきを一枚渡した。すると『はい、かしこまりました』と受け取ったそばからはがきを裏返し、文面を読み始めた」という“イラッとメモ”を披露。かたせを尊敬しているというマツコをはじめ、出演者たちはフロント係の言動に怒りを爆発させるが、やがて「フロント係の気持ちも分かる」と本音をポロリ。それを機に、マツコと有吉がかたせの魅力について語りまくり、話はどんどん脱線していく。

そんな中、杉村が披露した“イラッとメモ”は、「自宅のポストに6億円もする超高級物件のチラシが入っていた」というもの。杉村はこれほどまでの超高級物件のチラシを入れた業者に対して怒りをあらわにするが、ほかの出演者たちからは共感を得られない。そんな中、マツコが杉村に「太蔵ちゃん、今の肩書きは何なの？」と質問。その瞬間、杉村は「その質問、イラッとするんですよ！」とこの日最大（？）の怒りをまき散らす。

アスペルガー症候群; 「ハガネの女」ドラマでトラブル 漫画家が異論唱え原作者降りる

アスペルガー症候群について、「ハガネの女」のドラマ内では、相手の様子から気持ちを読み取れず、コミュニケーション能力に問題があると紹介している。しかし、自分を大切に思ってくれる人なら、理解してその気持ちに応えることができるともした。ハガネが投票受け入れを決めたのも、クラスメートが発達障害のあることを知って手を差し伸べれば、障害を克服できる可能性があるからだと、ハガネ自身に語らせている。

第2話の最後は、投票の結果、男児がクラスに残ることになったことを紹介した。ドラマのサイト上では、アスペルガー症候群3 件は、広範囲な定義・解釈を持ち、その症状や行動特性には個人差があるという断り書きも入れていた。

とはいえ、男児の受け入れをクラス投票で決めるという内容に対しては、反発や批判が多かったようだ。深谷かほるさんのサイト掲示板では、アスペルガー症候群3 件の子どもを持つ親として「ありえない内容」だと、ドラマ打ち切りなどを求める書き込みまで出ていた。

深谷さんらの反対意見について、テレビ朝日の広報部では、「『ハガネの女』シーズン2は、シーズン1とは異なり、原作にはないオリジナルストーリーでした。一部で深谷さんのご理解が得られず、残念に思っています」とだけコメントしている。深谷さんは、多数決のその後としてあるべき話をドラマの最終話に盛り込むようテレ朝側に依頼していたが、広報部では、この点についてはコメントしなかった。Read More

AKB48のメンバーの顔パーツを使って自由に「推しメン」の顔を作ることができる「推し面メーカー」ですが、なかなか美人が作れないと嘆く声が出ています。それではどのようにすればあなたオリジナルの推しメンが作れるのか、そのコツを紹介します。

●アゴの細い輪郭を選ぶ

どのような顔を美人と感じるかは人それぞれです。パッチリ二重が好きな人もいれば、スっと切れ長の一重が好きな人もいます。しかし、輪郭に関しては「小顔で、卵型」が好まれるのではないでしょうか。推し面メーカーで一番気をつけるべきなのは、まさにこの輪郭の選び方です。丸顔の輪郭は途端にしもぶくれで太った顔に見えてしまう傾向がありますので、できるだけアゴの細い輪郭を選びましょう。

• Iris member Lee Eun Mi stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend

On June 19th, Lee Eun Mi (24), the lead vocalist of female group ‘Iris‘, was reported to have been murdered by her boyfriend at 2 AM KST. On June 22nd, Saheung police revealed that they had issued an arrest warrant for Cho (28) for stabbing Lee 65 times on the head and abdomen while she was on her way home.

Investigations revealed that the two had discussed marriage plans before Lee broke off their relationship, causing Cho to feel overrun by anger which eventually ended in murder.

Through witness accounts, Cho was eventually arrested at a rest stop. Lee’s sibling wrote on her mini-homepage, stating, “Hello, this is Lee Eun Mi’s younger sibling. Today, my sister left for Heaven. I still cannot believe it. Please pray that she may rest in peace.”

An old friend of Lee’s also wrote, “Eun Mi is sleeping. She’s a dongseng I met through Mano Entertainment and is also the main vocalist for a group named Iris. I will be attending her funeral tonight. I hope you go to a better place, Eun Mi.”

• [단독] 남자친구 손에…'아이리스' 보컬 가수 이은미 사망

그룹 아이리스의 보컬 이은미 씨(24)가 애인이 휘두른 흉기에 찔려 사망했다. 22일 경기도 시흥경찰서는 이 씨를 숨지게 한 혐의로 조모 씨(28)씨에 대해 구속영장을 신청했다고 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 조 씨는 지난 19일 새벽 2시쯤 시흥시 한 길가에서 귀가하던 이 씨를 흉기로 수차례 찔러 살해한 혐의를 받고 있다. 경찰 조사 결과 조 씨는 결혼까지 생각했던 이 씨가 최근 헤어지자고 한 데 격분해 이런 짓을 저지른 것으로 드러났다.

경찰은 목격자 진술, 주변인 제보 등을 확보하고 다음 날 고속도로 휴게소에서 조 씨를 검거했다. 현재 이 씨의 미니홈피 메인에는 “안녕하세요 이은미 동생입니다. 오늘(19일) 우리 언니가 하늘나라로 갔습니다. 아직도 믿기지가 않네요. 편안하게 갈 수 있게 삼가 고인의 명복을 빌어주세요”라는 글이 적혀 있다.

이 씨의 과거 동료는 자신의 블로그에 “은미가 잠들었습니다. 은미는 예전 마노엔터테인먼트때 알게 된 동생입니다. 아이리스라는 그룹의 메인 보컬이고, 오늘 저녁에 다들 장례식장에 가기로 했습니다. 좋은 곳으로 가길 바란다. 은미야”라는 추모 글을 남겼다. Read More

Despite the impressive number of total votes this year, Oshima Yuko loses her place to Maeda Atsuko by a less than 10% margin. While not quite as visible, Oshima Yuko continues to win fans over with her vigor and silly charms.

Kashiwagi Yuki

It’s no secret that Kashiwagi Yuki has been going place as of late. Between her exposure as a weather girl and the debut of her sub-group French Kiss, the past year has seen her popularity rise far more so than any other AKB48 member. Which is why she takes the number three spot this year. The question remains if she will be able to bridge the sizable gap between her and second place in time to come.

Shinoda Mariko

4. Shinoda Mariko

Regardless of her rare participation in theater performances and decreasing appearance on AKB48 related shows, Shinoda Mariko drops only a single spot this year, no doubt thanks to her exposure through other popular mediums.

Watanabe Mayu continues to increase her fanbase at a steady level. Allowing her to retain her position at #5. Arguably, her timely photobook release may have helped too.

Kojima Haruna

AKB48′s lazy queen has not been standing out any more particularly than last year, with her drama career temporarily coming to a standstill. Instead Kojima opts to continue her strong presence in AKB48, variety shows and her sub-unit No Sleeves. It also helps that she appears far more frequently than any other member in publications, with it being impossible to not find at least one magazine featuring a bikini-clad Kojima on shelves on any given day. Kojima Haruna takes the sixth spot by a narrow edge of just 130 votes.

Takahashi Minami

Team A’s captain and now official leader of the entire AKB48. With no distractions with the exception of being part No Sleeves (as well), Takahashi’s hard work and dedication toward the idol group continues to garner the respect of fans all over.

Despite her solo debut this year and her role as the face of the popular Samantha Vega, Itano Tomomi drops 4 spots this year. She doesn’t lag far behind the previous two though.

Sashihara Rino

While she had been promoted extensively for years, the past year has been especially good to Sashihara Rino. Her post Heavy Rotation feature as the video’s least prominent member and subsequent popularity stunts have struck gold with the public who find it rather difficult not to like AKB48′s most notorious wota.

Long regarded as one of SKE48′s most popular members. SKE48′s hidden ace Matsui Rena had missed making last year’s top 10 by just 84 votes. This year she overtakes fellow SKE48′s Matsui Jurina (and most of the 48 groups) to become SKE48′s highest ranking representative.
